About GFRC
GFRC stands for Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete.
Small strands of fiberglass are added into the structural layer of our pieces, creating a matrix of fiberglass that increases the flexural strength of the concrete. This allows us the ability to create thinner, lighter weight pieces, that are not susceptible to cracking. Unlike standard concrete which requires steel reinforcement, and a minimum 2 inch thickness.
Imagine a 4 inch thick concrete countertop crushing your kitchen cabinets! Standard construction techniques would not support that amount of weight. GFRC pieces can be made 1/2” thick (thinner in some cases), and left hollow underneath to reduce weight, while still providing the look of a thick slab (when desired).
Just like regular concrete, GFRC can accommodate a variety of artistic finishes including acid staining, integral pigments, decorative aggregates, veining and more. It can also be etched, polished, sandblasted and stenciled. If you can imagine it, we can create it. Choose GFRC for your next project.
